Brex Golf Variable NODE putting analysis - iPhoneBrex Golf has teamed up with Variable, Inc. (located just down the road in Chattanooga, Tenn.) to develop an electronic putting training aid which is based on their innovative NODE+ sensor system.

NODE is a handheld, wireless, sensor platform that is transforming how apps gather, process and use sensory data from the world around us. The NODE’s built-in sensors include accelerometers and gyroscopes that record the subtlest movements of your putter during the putting stroke and wirelessly communicate that information to your Android or iOS smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 (low energy).

Brex Golf Variable NODE putting analysisThe NODE mounts to the top of the putter shaft just below the grip so that the weight of the putter head isn’t affected and your normal site lines are not altered.

With the putting training app currently under development, you will be able to record your practice putting strokes and see exactly what the putter head is doing so that you can fine tune your stroke to become a better putter. The app will provide the following information in a legible graphical format:

  • Stroke style (putter head path, amount of toe swing, etc.)
  • Putting tempo (back stroke vs. through stroke)
  • Face angle at impact (relative to setup face angle)
  • Consistency (how consistent are the above components of your swing)

One of the great things about the NODE+ is that if you are technologically inclined or just a bit of a gearhead, it can be removed from your putter and used in applications that are only limited by your imagination.

Please let us know what you think of our new putting training aid and what additional features you might like to see.
